Can you take just a half hour a week to keep your pool in tiptop shape?
Are you a new pool owner? Or veteran? Either way, these tips can help you get used to a routing or refresh your routine with your pool. This quick check list will make a big difference in making sure your pool is always ready to jump into.
Tip 1: Brush the sides of the pool and run a pool vac to keep debris out of your water, and your walls sparkling clean.
Tip 2: Clean the tile or vinyl at the water line. You can use baking soda paste to scour scum away without damaging delicate tile or a vinyl liner.
Tip 3: Check the filter pressure and clean or backwash the filter if needed.
Tip 4: Clean the skimmer by emptying the basket.
Tip 5: Keep an eye on the water level, it should be high enough to cover the return jet so the pump will operate correctly.
Tip 6: Maintain proper circulation; that means running your pump and filter enough hours daily to keep the water clean and clear. The amount of time varies depending on the size of the pool, the size of the pump and how often the pool is used. Your dealer will be able to help here.
Tip 7: Test your pool water regularly and maintain water balance. Regularly use the FROG® Test Strips or the FROG Water Care App to keep the Total Alkalinity, pH and Hardness in the right ranges. Check out our FROG Water Balancing Guide for help.
Tip 8: Add a preventative dose of algaecide as necessary; use a FROG Leap® All-Out® to prevent algae for up to 90 days!
