Questions about the Coronavirus abound, and we all want accurate information. The CDC is the nation’s leading science-based, data-driven, service organization that protects the public’s health. They are the source of facts, updates and guidelines.
The CDC states that, “There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools, hot tubs, spas, or water playgrounds. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools, hot tubs or spas, and water playgrounds should inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.”
FROG® sanitizing systems can maintain your swimming pool but the surfaces and touchable areas also need to be cleaned and disinfected every time they’re used. The CDC recommends using an EPA-registered disinfectant to treat SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, on hard surfaces. The EPA maintains a list of products on the market that meet the criteria for efficacy against CARS-Cov-2 (see EPA List N).
Tips for Proper Operation, Maintenance and Disinfection
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, which include pool or hot tub touchpads, handles, dials, the surface edges and sides of the pool, the pool or hot tub cover – anything and everything you touch or come into contact with. Use an EPA registered disinfectant approved for use against SARS-CoV-2 (see EPA List or a product on the American Chemistry Council Center for Biocide Chemistries “Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Fighting Product”
- Maintain social distancing when using your pool or hot tub with anyone who is not sheltering in place with you.
- All FROG sanitizing systems kill bacteria in the pool/hot tub 2 ways, using a combination of chlorine and minerals.
- Maintain your water balance and chlorine or bromine levels; using FROG Test strips will give you accurate readings.
Use your pool and hot tub often!
FROG sanitizing systems provide cleaner, clearer, softer water, so you can be confident and enjoy pool fun and hot tub relaxation.
